Really good and tasty food, love it. Will try next time. Just the delivery wasn't good, if I didn't track the status and called, I would never found it in the side of the hotel lobby desk already! Really should ask all drivers to call or text while making deliveries or drop off.
This place is a surprise find for me. I was visiting the now-closed butcher place without knowing that it was permanently closed. I was hungry, so I just popped into this restaurant. Me and my party ordered the Spicy Wonton Soup, Beef Noodle Soup, Black Sugar Boba Latte, and Lemon Yakult. While there are indoor and outdoor seating areas, the place runs like a to-go shop: no table service, you pick up your food from the counter when ready on a plastic tray, and no metal cutlery or dinnerware--just to-go containers and plastic cutlery. I didn't expect much from the looks of this place, but I was wrong. The soups came out piping hot, which was nice on a cold day, but you want to use caution with kids. The wonton soup had about 15 wontons in decent size, with a lot of diced green onions, cilantro, and a good amount of scorched red pepper oil floating on top of the liquid. The soup was savory and spicy due to the oil. At first, I didn't think I'd get full, but it ended up filling me up pretty well, and I had left-over soup that I took to-go (the soup was too good to discard) by simply putting a lid on the container that it came in. My party enjoyed the non-spicy beef noodle soup; he said he'd order it again. The black sugar boba was very sweet, full of liquid brown sugar goodness. The lemon yakult (yakult is a sweet probiotic drink) was refreshing but a bit too sweet for me. I am not sure whether you can customize the sweetness level; after all, this place is a noodle place, not a boba house. I found the overall atmosphere and food to be authentically Taiwanese. I didn't expect authenticity from a to-go spot like this, so I was pleasantly surprised. I will come back to try other dishes. Parking is free; you just need to get into the right parking structure. You will see signs around the building. If you are entering a parking structure that's pretty narrow and small, that's the right one.
The food was good, but the vibes were a little off. This Irvine location is located within residential area of UCI. Most of the parking says 10 min or 30 min, but we were told that it is not really enforced. The portion is pretty big. I ordered the Guilin soup, which does include a plethora of peanuts and lotus flower. You can adjust the heat, I ordered mild and it was just the right amount for me. There were a lot of orders for to-go and a few people who ate at the restaurant. The place itself is kinda small and self-service. We cleaned our own tables which was messy when we sat down. It was also kinda quiet and it felt like you needed to whisper to have a conversation. Would be nice if there was some music playing for ambiance. Next time I come I think I'd rather order to go, but will still come for the food.
Fantastic cheap eats! Unexpected find when we were near UC Irvine and was famished. The noodles are delicious. And the price point is fantastic!
Best Liangpi in the area! Liangpi is the only thing I get here and it's very good. There aren't that many restaurants in the area that serve this dish so this is my go-to spot whenever I'm in Irvine. I recommend adding more chili oil and black vinegar as they provide on the side.
This place is a bit inconspicuous. Its located at the bottom of an apartment complex around the bend. All the spots in front are labeled "pick up only", but I don't think it's checked too much. I think there's a parking garage in the back, but the ones in front of it are all labeled resident so I wish there was better signage. Going in, the vibe is very friendly and casual. The cashier had the chillness of a surfer dude and a lot of the seats are like metal stools. It's very much self service so they market no tip! It was pretty free on a Sunday morning. You order on a kiosk and pay there but for their special desserts you have to order with the cashier. You pick up your plastic tray to the table, and the tableware is pretty much disposable. Then you separate and throw into the trash cute yourself. The noodles are reasonable priced and decent portion with the thicker spaghetti like rice noodles. Spice level wise- I got extremely spicy and it was more chili oil than spicy, it was bearable. I think medium spicy is like chili garlic sauce. Overall consensus was that the broth was on the saltier side so I could not finish it. It might very been the addition of dried chili too that made it too salty. Beef noodles- super tender like melt in your mouth and decent amount of chunks. Flat wide noodles. Would recommend. Dry noodles- my order, a bit salty but good portion. Comes with roasted peanuts and pickled string beans ( which are really hard to find now) the string beans are sooo crunchy, I def need a plug to their supplier, cuz I missed them so much. The meat was also very tender Guilin noodles- didn't try but again lots of pickled string beans in it. Coconut Jelly with osmanthus- for $5 I really enjoyed it as a cooling dessert. The jelly was on the soft jiggly side with not much osmanthus flavor. There was some crunchier pieces on top and the red bean added a nice sweetness. Pretty clean flavor? Not creamy or floral so it was a better finisher than a drink. If you come here I recommend smaller groups due to limited seasoning? Very casual lunch vibes and the beef noodles are all good because they cook their beef super tender, just on the salty side. It's a good deal for the flavor.
I just discovered the perfect spot for a quick and delicious lunch: Qin West Noodle in Irvine! Their authentic Chinese noodles and cozy seating area with street food-style stools brought back amazing memories of my travels in Japan and Mexico City. The flavors of their Guilin and Wonton Soup were spot-on, delivering that classic Chinese flavor I was craving. I loved the peanuts in the Guilin soup -- they added an unexpected twist of flavor and texture. And let's not forget about their Matcha Milk Tea with Red Bean! If you're a fan of red bean like me -- Don't miss out on this drink! (FYI I got 50% sweetness )
|[ c h e a t m e a l n o o d z ]| Pretty authentic and quite delicious for the occasional Chinese noodles cheat meal! Tried some of the beef noodle soup and such a classic, freshly made noodles in flavorful soup, yummy and decent portions 4/5. Wonton soup was also really good! The wontons were flavorful but not salty and the soup was also pretty bomb and I love how big the bowl was and the decent portions 5/5. Also not too much oil in the soup which I appreciated. |[ o v e r a l l ]| Small space but was easy for order in and take out, parking out front also easy. Efficient service. My only critique is to improve on the packing of the soup as some of it spilled in the car and it appears the top popped off. Will def be returning for authentic Chinese noodle cravings!
Hot, spicy, and perfect for a cold day! I had a chance to drop by for my first time here for lunch on a regular day and it seemed pretty crowded. Qin West Noodle located in one of the smaller plaza in Irvine, with the area's private customer parking structure in the back, very convenient, and free. They did self-order tablet when I was here, but there was always a cashier behind the counter who could help if you didn't like to press any button or had any questions about the menu. Foods came out quite quickly, also self-service. We had the Dry Mix Noodles (somehow still tasted very spicy when I order non-spicy) and Spicy Wonton Soup. Portion size was great, toppings were plenty, flavor was authentically Chinese. I couldn't finish mine because it was too spicy, but still, I like the originality of the food and how they were able to deliver these very special flavors into it. Prices were pretty good compared to other similar restaurants in Irvine area. "NO TIPS" was stated in the menu. They also had Chinese snacks and potato chips for sale if anyone interested. Will be back if I am in the area.
